Joyce Manor - Self Titled LP

After seeing Joyce Manor's perfect set at a matinee show in St. Catharines on Saturday, I had no choice but to pick this record up. After spending the entirety of Sunday listening to the record on repeat, I saw them a second time at the Horseshoe Tavern for the last show on their tour with Lemuria. Joyce Manor is from California and insanely catchy pop punk with a hint of 90s emo. The anthemic feeling of the songs is almost reminiscent of Weezer, with a lot of the melodies and riffs sounding kind of like Jawbreaker. This really stands out in my favorite song off the record, "Constant Headache", possibly the greatest way to close off a record and in the case of both of their shows, a live set. In addition to being one of the catchiest songs I've heard in months, this song has some of my favorite lyrics and closes absolutely beautifully. Also see this band live if the record does it for you, the sets are tight as hell and the band just gushes out their souls into the audience. Oh yeah, and they're also super nice. Nice band, nice set, amazing record. Go support.
